Campinas will intensify the fight against the Aedes aegypti mosquito from this Monday (20) until Saturday (25). The actions are part of the Week of Social Mobilization for Actions to Control Arboviruses in the State of São Paulo. The goal of health agents is to reduce the infestation of the transmitting mosquito and the circulation of dengue, zika and chikungunya viruses.
The activities were organized by the Municipal Health Secretariat in partnership with the Municipal Committee to Combat Arboviruses. Campinas already develops continuous actions to control and combat Aedes aegypti, but joined in advance the Mobilization Week from March 13th to 18th, with information and training for health teams and educational activities on arboviruses in companies.
Among the activities scheduled for the week of March 20th to 25th, there will be new training for health teams; breeding action in Campo Belo and Parque Brasília neighborhoods and intensification of house-to-house inspections to control breeding sites in Real Parque.
Work will also be intensified to control breeding sites in the Campina Grande neighborhoods; Telesp Garden; Jardim Maria Rosa and Jardim Aeroporto. A sound car will circulate through the neighborhoods with information on the control and prevention of arboviruses in neighborhoods with high transmission potential, which were listed in the Dengue Alert 39 issued last March 13 by the City Hall, which can be accessed at http:// www.dengue.campinas.sp.gov.br.
Educational actions and thematic exhibition on arboviruses are scheduled in supermarkets in the Santa Mônica and Jardim Aurélia neighborhoods; at Professor Vitório Zamarion State School, in Jardim São Bento; in waiting rooms at the Oziel, São Domingos, Fernanda and Campo Belo Health Centers; and theatrical educational action at Professor Alberto Martins State School and Professor Sylvia Simões Magro Municipal School of Early Childhood Education, in the Jardim Ipaussurama neighborhood.
In addition, educational activities will take place at the event “Assiste Campinas”, in the Southwest region (CIC Vida Nova), and a Discussion Round about Arboviruses is scheduled with Health Counselors from the Southern District.
epidemiological situation
From January to March 15, Campinas registered 453 cases of dengue, with no fatalities. Five cases of chikungunya were confirmed, four imported and one indigenous. Patients are residents of the areas covered by the Health Centers Santos Dumont, São Cristóvão, Rosália and União dos Bairros. Among the imported cases, three are from Minas Gerais and one from Bahia.
“Given the epidemiological context of Campinas, every suspected case of chikungunya must be properly investigated for timely implementation of control and prevention actions, since the transmission of this arbovirus has increased in several areas of the country”, says the coordinator of Arboviruses in Campinas , from the Health Surveillance Department (Devisa), Fausto de Almeida Marinho Neto.
“The autochthonous case is derived from an import notified in the region of CS Santos Dumont. Therefore, the Health Department is carrying out several actions to contain transmission in the region, ”he explains. He also asks the population to contribute by helping to eliminate possible breeding sites for the transmitting mosquito.
In cases of symptoms such as fever, body aches and headaches, pain in the eyes and joints, vomiting and red spots on the body, people should seek a health center for evaluation, advise health agents.
