There’s more high-speed racing in store this weekend as the NASCAR Cup Series returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway’s Franken track. Prior to the 2022 season, racetrack management completed a refurbishment of the 1.54-mile circuit that narrowed the turns and increased the bank to 28 degrees to encourage racing that more closely resembles the 2.5-mile superspeedways of Daytona and Talladega.
The results were mixed. While the organizers got the exciting races they wanted, between the two races there were 22 crash warnings. That’s more than the last four races at Daytona and Talladega combined. Get ready for a long Sunday afternoon.
